Natural Bug Repellent for Gardeners
Anyone who enjoys gardening knows that bugs seem to know exactly when you’ve decided to spend a few hours outside.
You grab your gloves.
Pull a few weeds.
Plant a few flowers.
And before long, mosquitoes, gnats, or other biting insects decide to join you.
For many gardeners, dealing with bugs becomes part of the routine.
The challenge is finding a solution that’s pleasant enough to use regularly.
Why Gardeners Notice Bugs More Than Most People
Gardening often takes place during the exact times insects are most active.
Early mornings.
Late afternoons.
Calm evenings.
Those are also some of the most enjoyable times to work outdoors.
Unfortunately, they’re often prime bug hours as well.
Whether you’re tending vegetables, maintaining flower beds, pruning shrubs, or simply watering plants, spending long periods outdoors can quickly become uncomfortable when biting insects are part of the experience.
My Own Experience Outdoors
The inspiration for SGI Naturals didn’t begin in a laboratory.
It started while living on St. George Island, Florida.
Between renovation projects, yard work, walking the dog, and everyday outdoor activities, I spent a great deal of time dealing with no-see-ums, mosquitoes, yellow flies, and other biting insects.
Like many people, I tried a variety of bug sprays over the years.
Some worked better than others.
But I often found myself looking forward to washing them off as soon as I got back inside.
I wanted something simpler.
A Different Approach
My goal was never to create the strongest product on the shelf.
My goal was to create something I actually enjoyed using.
After nearly two years of experimenting, I developed a simple balm made from:
-
Grass-fed beef tallow
-
Beeswax
-
Lavender oil
The result was easy to carry, easy to apply, and pleasant enough to become part of my daily routine.
How I Use It Outdoors
Before spending time outside, I simply apply a small amount to exposed skin.
For me, that usually includes:
-
Back of the neck
-
Arms and wrists
-
Ankles and feet
-
Around the ears
A little goes a long way.
The goal isn’t to coat yourself from head to toe.
It’s simply to make outdoor activities more enjoyable.
Gardening Should Be Relaxing
Most gardeners aren’t looking for perfection.
They’re looking for comfort.
They want to enjoy planting, pruning, harvesting, and maintaining their gardens without constantly thinking about bugs.
That’s exactly why SGI Naturals Bug Repellent Balm was created.
A simple product inspired by years of outdoor living and a desire to spend more time enjoying nature and less time swatting at insects.
